General  Characteristics

  • THE GRAINS SHALL BE LONG, SLENDER WHITE TO CREAMY WHITE OR GRAYISH COLOUR AND TRANS LUCENT.
  • THE RICE:
    • SHALL BE THE DRIED MATURED KERNLES OF ORYZA SATIVA AND HAVE UNIFORM SIZE, SHAPE AND COLOUR.
    • SHALL POSSES IN A MARKED DEGREE THE NATURA FRAGRANCE CHARACTERISTE OF BASMATI RICE BOTH IN THE RAW AND COOKED STATE.
    • SHALL NOT HAVE BEEN ARTIFICALLY COLOURD AND SHALL BE FREE FROM POLISSHING AGENTS.
    • MAY CONTAIN UPTO THREE PERCENT OF GRAINS WITH AN APPRECIABLE AMOUNT OF BRAN THEREON.
    • SHALL BE FREE FROM MUSTY OBNOXIOUS ODOUR AND SHALL CARRY NO SIGN OF MOULD OR CONTAINING WEBS AND DEAD OR LIVE WEEVILS;
    • SHALL HAVE LENGTH 60.MM AND ABOVE AND LENGTH BREATH RATIO THREE AND ABOVE.
    • SHALL BE IN SOUND MERCHANTABLE CONDITION.

    • SHALL POSSES A  MARKED DEGREE OF BASMATI RICE BOTH IN THE RAW AND COOKED STATE.
    • SHALL NOT HAVE BEEN ARTIFICALLY COLOURED AND SHALL BE FREE FROM POLISHING AGENTS;

GRNERAL CHARACTERISTICS

  • The grins shall’ be long, slender, white, brownish or grayish colour and trans lucent.
  • the rice:
    • shall be the dried matured kernels of Oryza sativa and have uniform size, shape and colour;
    • shall possess a marked degree of natural fragrance characteristic of basmati rice both in the raw and cooked state.
    • shall not have been artificially coloured and shall be free from polishing agents.
    • may  contain upto three percent of grains with an appreciable amount of bran thereon.
    • shall be free from musty obnoxious odour and shall carry no sign of mould or containing webs and dead or live weevils;
    • shall have length 6.0 mm and above and length breadth ratio three and above.
    • shall be in sound merchantable condition.
