DEFINTION OF QUALITY STATE OR CONDITION

·       EACH FRUIT SHALL HAVE REACHED A STAGE OF MATURITY WHICH WILL PERMIT THE SUBSEQUENT COMPLETION OR RIPENING IN THE ORDINARY COURS OF TRANSPORT AND MARKETING.

·       EACH FRUIT SHALL HAVE DEVELOPED THE CHARACTERISTIC COLOUROF THE VARIRTY I.E. LIGHT GREENISH OVER 34TH OF THE SURFACE AREA OF FRUIT & THERE SHOLD BE UNIFORMITY IN COLOR THROUGHOUT THE PACK. 

·       EACH FRUIT SHALL HAVE SHAPE NORMAL TO THE  VARIETY AND BE FREE FROM MALFORMATION.

·       EACH FRUIT SHALL BE FIRM. REASONABLY DEVELOPED AND IN GOOD CONDTION. WINDFALLS AND SHRIVELLED FRUITS SHALL NOT BE PACKED.

·       EACH FRUIT SHALL BE FREE FROM DEFECTS DUE TO DISEASES OR INSECTS OR MECHANICAL INJURY AFFECTING THE KEPPING QUALITY OF THE FRUIT.

·       BLEMISH NOT AFFETCTING THE KEEPING QUALITY IS PERMITTED TO EXTEMT QUALITY IS PERMITTED TO THE EXTENT OF 161 SQ. MM IN THE CASE EXTRA LARGE GRADE AND 323 SQ. MM FOR THE OTHER GRADES. PROVIDED NO  SINGLE MARK  IS LARGE THAN 81 SQ. MM IN THE LATTER.

·       LIGHT RESETTING DISPERSED OVER AN AGGREGATE AREA OF  1-10TH OF THE TOTAL SURFACE AND NOT AFFECTING THE INTERNAL QUALITY OF THE FRUIT MAY BE PERMITTED.

·       THE STALK SHALL BE REMOVED CLOSE TO THE FRUIT BUT NOT PULLED OUT.
