General characteristics 

  • Oil cake of good and fair grades shall be the product of Niger seeds (Guizotia a byssinica Cass) obtained after the extraction of oil from sound and clean niger seeds by power driven machinery. 
  • Ghani oil cake shall be product obtained after the extraction of oil from clean and sound niger seeds (Guizotia abyssinica Cass) by animal driven ghani or chakki.
  • The material shall be in firm texture
  • It shall be free from harmful constituents and castor cake or husk.
  • It shall be free from rancidity adulterants, insects or fungus infestations and from fermented, musty or other objectionable odour.
  • It shall be free from dirt’s and extraneous matter.
